Season 8 Finale
Round 1:
Adam Lambert delivered a lethargic rendition of “Mad World”–so although one of the judges referred to it as “haunting”, it didn’t have the power of his first performance of it.
Kris Allen’s “Ain’t No Sunshine” was moving and effective. Round 1 goes to Kris.
Round 2:
Even though though the judges were blown away by Adam’s “Change…”, it rang of his past performances to me–lots of mewling like a cat. Kris delivered a less than exciting rendition of “What’s Going On?”–not nearly as good as last week’s “Heartless”, but how can you top Marvin Gaye? Round 2 was a toss-up
Round 3:
This song was less than stellar as performed by both contestants, but it certainly fit the voice of Adam better than it did Kris. Both Randy and Kara suggested the song was “too high” for Kris’s voice, and it did sound like he was straining. If I had to give the round to someone, it would go to Adam
Prediction: Adam Lambert takes the Season 8 crown–not that he’s my favorite, but he’s got the glam factor, and he looks like a Jonas brother (already a star), so who could argue?
