It’s becoming clear that Idol viewers and the judges prefer the contestants who do original covers of songs. Adam Lambert’s recent remake of “If I Can’t Have You” and Kris Allen’s smooth Santana-like revision of “She Works Hard for the Money” were definite highlights of this week’s show. Were the eliminations signs that Idol viewers favor the non-ethnic variety? Allison Iraheta hung on this week, despite choosing one of the cheesiest of disco songs: “Hot Stuff”, by Donna Summer.
